RECRUITMENT

Spring Recruitment 2023 - Join a Sorority Week

January 17, 2023 - January 21, 2023

Spring recruitment is informal. This means that recruitment is not set up the same way as the fall in regard to specific recruitment nights, parties, etc. It is more laid back and follows more of a continuous open bidding (COB) process or Pop-Bys during the given week. It gives girls a chance to meet everyone and view social media posts about who they are and what each chapter stands for. Every girl is not required to visit every house like in formal recruitment, but it is highly recommended. You can get the full experience and get to meet amazing women from every chapter. On Instagram, @semo_vp_of_recruitment and @semopanhellenic will have each chapters official spring recruitment events.

Fall Formal Recruitment 2023

August 23, 2023 - August 27, 2023

NPC defines primary recruitment as the period of time during the academic year when events are held by each NPC sorority on a campus for the purpose of selecting new members.

Formal Recruitment is broken up into separate nights such as:

  • Go Greek Night: Where every Potential New Member (PNM) gets to visit every chapter and gets an introduction to them, why to go Greek, and all things recruitment.

  • Philanthropy Night: PNMs visit at most 6/7 chapters and get to learn more about each chapter’s philanthropy, what it means to them, and how they support it.

  • Sisterhood Night: PNMS visit at most 4/7 chapters and learn about their sisterhood and are able to make their choice on who they want to preference the following night.

  • Preference Night: PNMS visit at most 2/7 chapters and get to have more in depth conversations and ultimately choose who they want to receive a bid from.

  • Bid Day: PNMs are now given a bid from one chapter and are able to run home to them on Bid Day and join their new sisters.

Other differences that make this “Formal Recruitment” are that Pi Chi’s are included with helping the PNM’s go through recruitment. Pi Chi’s are recruitment counselors who are there to assist the PNMs throughout their recruitment experience. Pi Chi’s are sorority women who have disaffiliated from their chapter to serve as a recruitment counselor for the PNMs. PNMs are assigned to a Pi Chi and a group with other PNMs.

The Panhellenic Involvement throughout Formal Recruitment is that Panhellenic completely plans out dates, rules, etc. regarding formal recruitment, as opposed to informal which is more lenient and laid back.
